The IV Latin-American Conference took place in the Garrahan Hospital in Buenos Aires from May 11th to 13th, 2005.

We closed Registrations two weeks before, since at that time we had already 300 signed in .Parents and professionals from 7 Latin Countries were represented:  Chile, Brazil, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Colombia, Spain, Norway, USA, and Italy . Also Parents and Professionals from all over Argentina took the chance to learn more.

The Program was scheduled from 9 am. to 4:30 pm. Mornings for Professionals Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. All the topics where explained in a room full of health professionals, special teachers etc. Parents could attend except for Thursday where Dr. Gourash and Dr. Forester wanted to speak about crisis only to professionals.

The Program for Parents and carers where scheduled form Wednesday afternoon, Thursday full day and Friday afternoon.

But then we found that many doctors attended also to the Parents Program and many parents attended also to the Professional Program.

Speakers from the Garrahan Interdisciplinary Team, Professionals working with adults, invited speakers: Dr. Moris Angulo, Dra. Linda Gourash, Dr. Janice Forester, Christian Aashamar and representatives from IPWSO: Mrs. Pam Eisen (President) and Giorgio Fornasier (Director of Program Development) where applauded by the audience.

All medical, educational and general aspects where presented. It was a full range of information during those three days in the Garrahan Hospital.

And finished in a family day on Saturday 14th  where parents, grandparents, PWS children and adults and siblings shared a day of conferences, singing and asking with the professionals who spoke during the Conference.

Personal questions and ideas could then be answered so no one  of the families had to go home without asking all they needed to ask or share.

What did we get as “new”, after hearing all the Conferences and sharing so much between the Professionals and Parents from different countries?

That today it is much easier, due to the work our “older parents” have done before, and that there is a way to give our children  a life as  full as possible.

Thanks to all, to IPWSO, to the parents, to our volunteers, to the great team at the Garrahan Hospital, to their authorities, and for all who helped, without them this great Conference would not have been possible.
